The promoters of the port of San Andrés register the project with the Port Authority, which is already being analyzed by technicians.
Málaga's dream of having its own Puerto Banús in the San Andrés area is little by little closer. The ambitious project, which will involve an investment of close to 44 million euros, was registered this Tuesday with the Port Authority by Marina Málaga San, with the Qatari group Al Alfia at the helm, for analysis and study.
This is the last step before, once the approval is given by the body chaired by Carlos Rubio, the technical proposal is sent to the Urban Planning Management for the corresponding granting of the works license.
The port technicians have already set to work to analyze the enormous documentation delivered, estimating a minimum period of 10 or 15 days to issue a response.
In the event that it is favorable, the private promoters, who also have Island Global Yachting (IGY) and Ocean Capital Partners (OCP), will be able to activate the license file.
One of the great attractions of this project is that it is located a stone's throw from the historic center and two and a half hours from Madrid (via high-speed train). The plan contemplates the execution of 506 docking points for vessels between 8 and 50 meters in length, to which is added a wide range of "high-end" commercial and hospitality offerings.
The model designed for this business initiative includes having "leading national and international brands" in the commercial area, among which Prada, Louis Vuitton and Gucci are directly mentioned. The offer wants to be expanded with "prestigious gastronomic firms."
Project attractions
The proposal includes the so-called Nautical Complex, with 1,820 square meters, which will become a "reference landmark of social activity" in the city. It is thought of as a point of attraction for meetings, meals, celebrations, stays...
The ground floor will have a nautical store, gym-spa, nursery-children's space, beauty salon-hairdresser, offices, kitchens and cafeteria-restaurant. And on the upper floor, a "more select" restaurant with VIP dining rooms and large open terraces.
To this we must add a leisure area with the Tourist Pier, from where you could take "tourist boat trips with other port areas or even with the cruise terminal." One of the main innovations is to recover the Ferris wheel-viewpoint that was dismantled several years ago in the Muelle Heredia area.
The report speaks of a removable installation as a tourist viewpoint or 45-meter-high ferris wheel that would be built in the urban plaza contemplated at the junction of the west and south docks.
To respond to the needs of future clients of the San Andrés marina, 439 parking spaces are proposed, 305 of them on the surface and 134 in a basement planned under the commercial buildings.
Málaga Marina San already has the concession for a period of 50 years. In exchange for the committed investments and the payment of an activity fee of almost 1.5 million euros per year, it will have the right to the exploitation of 51,475 square meters of land area, where there will be space for a sailing school, and 63,000 of sheet of water.
